Established in 2004, with divisions in Israel and the USA, Life’s Door is a not-for-profit with a mission to empower hope and well–being throughout illness, aging, and at the end of life. We advance platforms that offer hopefulness and meaning to tens of thousands of people annually, and have developed innovative training models and programs.
Life’s Door has been a leader in developing models and implementing programs to enhance quality of life, coping in the face of loss and fostering meaning in the lives of people in the direst emotional and physical states, even at life’s end.
We have worked and partnered with agencies and institutions in Israel and internationally, including over 30 geriatric and medical facilities, academic/research institutes and other NGOs/social organizations in the health care and aging space.
Distinguished by the brainpower of our Scientific Advisory Board and esteemed international collaborative partners, Life’s Door is now engaged the global health-technology revolution. We are positioned to launch Hopetimize® – our hope enhancement platform that will transform the way people around the world confront life’s challenges, and experience ageing and illness.
We have been recognized in the US and Israel for our achievements and were the recipient of many citations such as the Israel Presidential Award for Volunteerism, the “Sylvan Adams Builders of Zion Award for Medicine and Science” in the Israeli Knesset, and Ministry of Aliyah and Integration’s “Award of Appreciation to Olim for Extraordinary Contributions to Society and the State”, as well as the prestigious “2021 Humanitarian Award of the American Society of Clinical Oncology” (ASCO) . We have proudly held a “Tav Middot” approval since 2018.
Life’s Door Experience
Our programs reach over 20,000 people annually, which represent the seriously ill, caregivers and healthcare professionals. We are able to create sustainable change by focusing our programs on training and supporting staff and volunteer teams in the community and in institutional settings (both professional and paraprofessional) empowering them with skills to increase empathy, enhance communication skills, and to offer hope and meaning in the face of trauma and despair.
We firmly believe in the power of strategic organizational relationships with local partners including Amigur, Israel Senior Citizens Ministry, Assisted Living Facilities, Ajeec organization (Arab Bedouin community of the Negev), MATAV organization (the largest NGO in Israel for supportive elderly services) and JDC-Eshel as well as many hospitals, long term care facilities and disease focused NGOs, (e.g., EMDA, the Israel Lung Cancer Foundation, The Israel Parkinson’s Foundation and many others). Our platforms have been developed in collaboration with international partners such as Johns Hopkins Medical Center, The Mayo Clinic, The National Cancer Institute, Duke University and other leading institutions.
Life’s Door programs have been supported by Bader Philanthropies, The Ted Arison Family Foundation, The Morton K. and Jane Blaustein Foundation, The UJA- Federation NY, The Schusterman Foundation, and other leading philanthropic groups and private donors.
